Hooligan Art Community

Hooligan Art Community is an independent theatre company founded in 2019 in Kyiv, Ukraine. We create brave, unconventional performances in non-traditional spaces that activate the dynamic relationship between performer and audience. Led by artists from Ukraine, the UK and Germany, our work spans performance, music-theatre, installation and film, rooted in a process of collaborative co-authorship that draws on movement, music, text and moving image. We are committed to artist development as a means of creation.

With russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, many of our artists were displaced. Now based in the UK and Germany, we continue to tour internationally, including our acclaimed Bunker Cabaret, developed in a Kyiv bomb shelter and performed across the UK and Europe.

LATEST NEWS: This year we are marking the third anniversary of the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine on 24th February by holding a series of events in the UK and online, including an evening of stories and songs from six years of work together, taking place at Somerset House Exchange on Monday Feb 24.

For details of all the events in the series, check the dates page.

'An eloquent ferocity of a sort that you rarely – incredibly – see on the British stage.

We’ve been lucky to have them among us. Powerful, urgent, necessary theatre.'
