*****EVENT INFO***** Join the artists of Hooligan Art Community as they look back on their extraordinary journey of collaboration and resilience through pandemic, war and displacement, on the third anniversary of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Founded in Kyiv, Ukraine in 2019, Hooligan Art Community are a group of artists from Ukraine, UK and Germany that began developing collaborative, co-authored performance in empty factories and abandoned spaces in the city, drawing on practices in theatre, dance, opera, music and film.

When russia launched the full-scale invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022, many of them became displaced. Navigating the trauma of the war and new lives as refugees, they have persevered, seeking out ways of coming together as a company to make new work. One of the results was their show Bunker Cabaret. Originally developed in a Kyiv bomb shelter, it premiered at Somerset House Exchange to acclaim in 2022 and toured the UK and Europe.

Where do we go from here?

This year, 24 February marks three years since the full invasion began. On this occasion Hooligan Art Community will tenderly open a conversation with their memories, revisiting their work to remember what they made and to nurture what still might be. The evening will conclude with a discussion about the significance of looking back and how it can help us think about the future.

“A paean to the fortitude of art in the hardest of conditions” -Index on Censorship

“Eloquent ferocity of a sort you rarely see on the British stage” -Dominic Cavendish
